Hall Cottage FAQs – Everything You Need To Know To Book Our Baslow Holiday Cottage

December 1, 2024

Here at Hall Cottage we’re pretty relaxed, and we want to make sure that when you come to stay, you are too. The last thing you need when you’re planning that much needed getaway, is to worry about the little things. There are always details to planning a trip, however, that are important to know, but not always easy to find. What time is check-out? Is there a pub within walking distance? Is there parking on site? We’ve put together this handy FAQ so that all of your most asked questions are in one place.

And if you’re booking our Baslow holiday cottage and have any questions that we haven’t answered here, then do just get in touch.

1) How do I book Hall Cottage?

Possibly the most important question! If you know the dates that you’re looking for, then simply check our availability calendar and see if the cottage is free. Click on the dates you want and follow the on screen instructions to complete the booking form – and don’t forget to tell us about your group.

If you’d like to ask a question first, or have any specific enquiry, do feel free to email us, use the enquiry form or give us a call: contact us here.

2) Why should I book direct?

We do advertise Hall Cottage through AirBnB and you are more than welcome to book through their platform if you prefer. When doing so, all communication is handled through their site, as well as the payment. They do, however, charge booking fees which means that booking direct will always give you a better rate for the same dates. We don’t add any extra charges, card handling or cleaning fees – what you see at the time of booking is what you’ll pay!

3) What is the deposit?

We ask for a 20% deposit with the balance due 6 weeks before your stay. We accept bank transfers, credit cards and cheques.

4) Are there any additional costs?

We do ask for a £100 refundable breakage deposit added to the cost of your  holiday. This will be returned to you within 2 weeks of your departure date assuming there have been no major breakages or damage to the  cottage.

5) What is your Cancellation Policy?

Please see our Terms & Conditions for full details – they can be found just under the booking calendar.

6) Can I book Hall Cottage over the phone?

Of course! Just call me, Wendy, on +44 7502337022 and I will book your stay  for you.

7) What’s provided in the cottage?

Our Baslow holiday cottage is a self-catering home from home and as such, is well set up with everything you could possibly need. The kitchen is fully equipped and even includes a dishwasher – one less thing to worry about when you’re trying to relax. You can cook up a storm with some of the area’s fabulous local produce, or use the microwave for a simpler option before dining al fresco in the south facing patio garden. Washing up liquid, dishwasher and washing machine tablets, a sponge, scourer, oven gloves and a tea towel are all provided.

We supply all the bed linen and towels for the two bedrooms alongside shower gel, hand  wash and hand cream.

For easy listening, the cottage comes complete with a Naim Mu-so sound system, as well as a Smart Panasonic TV, DVD and Wi-Fi throughout. Why not snuggle up next to the cosy log burner after a hard day exploring the local area?

8) Can I have a different changeover day?

Most weekly bookings start on Fridays. Our short breaks are typically  Friday to Monday or Monday to Friday. In low season, however, we can be more  flexible with start dates, and will always try and help out where we can. So, please ask us and we will see what we can do.

9) What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is 4pm and check-out is 10:30am.

10) Is there parking?

Absolutely. There is off-road parking for one large vehicle and additional parking close by.

11) Can I charge my electric vehicle?

Unfortunately we don’t currently have an electric vehicle charging point. However, we will provide details of the nearest charging  points before your stay.

12) How far are the nearest pubs and restaurants?

The Peak District is a foodie’s heaven, and there’s a great choice of pubs and restaurants in Baslow. There are several  within walking distance of Hall Cottage. We’ll give you lots of information  about these before your stay, but you can also read about some of our favourites in our blog post on Baslow Pubs & Restaurants.

13) How far away is Chatsworth House?

We are incredibly lucky to have a holiday cottage in Baslow that is literally walking distance to Chatsworth! The walk to the entrance of the park is only about 15 minutes – down Eaton  Hill, across the green, past the Cafe on the Green, over the bridge and  follow the signs to your right.

Chatsworth House itself is only another 20 minutes or so through the stunning park. Do look out for red and fallow deer as you walk  through the estate, especially during rutting season from mid-September  to November. It’s a sight and sound to behold! Find out more about the Chatsworth deer and the thrill of the rutting season here.

14) Do you accept children?

We do accept children over the age of 8 years old, but unfortunately we have no facilities for younger children or babies.

15) Can I bring my dog?

We love dogs, and know how important they are as family members. Unfortunately we are also aware that some guests are allergic to dogs, and we want them to be able to enjoy their stay as much as anyone. So it is with regret that we do not accept dogs.

16) Is Hall Cottage accessible?

Before booking the cottage please see our Accessibility Guide to ensure it meets your needs. It can be found just under the booking calendar: https://www.hallcottage.co.uk/booking-availability/ .

17) Is there a shop within walking distance or a bakery?

Yes! There is a local Spar convenience store and Post Office approximately 25 metres away. It sells fresh bread, cakes and pastries, dairy products, fresh fruit and vegetables as well as a good selection of wines and spirits, not to mention coffee on the go! There is also a Co-op store less than 500m down the hill.
